Shaft Operator

Chase Technical Staffing is seeking a dependable Shaft Operator in Wheeling IL to support production by preparing, loading, and unloading raw materials and shafts. Responsibilities include reviewing work orders, staging materials according to production schedules, inspecting materials, documenting waste and returned inventory, labeling rolls, and reporting defective materials to supervisors. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, maintain accurate records, and help ensure an efficient production process.

Schedule : Monday-Thursday 5:30am-3:30pm $18.50

Shaft Operator Responsibilities:

• Review work orders with entire liner crew and verify loading of runs and keep materials staged according to schedule
• Be aware of any production changes
• Remove any roll coverings from raw material prior to loading, inspect material and cut-off waste. Document amount of waste
• Place shafts in raw material cores
• Load raw material onto stands and or liner with crane hook
• Unload shafts and remove empty cores
• Rewrap and band partial rolls for return to warehouse
• Document raw material returned and mill, date, weight, size, stock number, and lot number
• Notify supervisor of any defective material being returned to warehouse and document
• Write stock number on every roll just outside the core
• Use Shafting Device whenever possible
• Only 4 rolls of lining in the area allowed
• Keep your work area CLEAN at all times
• Put all waste in appropriate dumpsters
• Immediately notify supervisor of repairs needed to shafts or equipment
• Shaft Operator experience is required.
