The Mortgage Loan Assistant reports directly to the Manager of Mortgage Operations and plays a vital role in facilitating the mortgage loan closing process. This position is responsible for working closely with members to collect, organize, and verify documentation needed to finalize first mortgage loans. Acting as a key liaison between members, Loan Officers, and internal mortgage operations, the Mortgage Loan Assistant ensures a smooth, efficient, and timely loan experience. Additional responsibilities include supporting the processing of partner-originated mortgage purchases and assisting with operational tasks such as daily rate uploads and funding wires.

Responsible And Accountable For
- Communicates with members to obtain, organize, and validate documentation required to close a first mortgage loan. Reviews mortgage-related documentation to confirm accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate and initiate required third-party services, including credit report, appraisals, employment verifications, and title work, to ensure timely and accurate loan processing.
- Submits necessary documentation to investors within established timelines.
- Collaborates with the Loan Officer to ensure all required documents are received in a timely manner.
- Assists the Loan Officer in keeping the member informed of loan progress and status updates.
- Supports the processing of mortgage loan purchases and contributes to daily operational tasks, including rate uploads and wire funding, as needed.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to adapt to flexible scheduling during peak volume periods, typically at month-end.
- Familiarity with federal and state mortgage lending regulations and compliance requirements.
- Working knowledge of FHA, VA, FHLMC, FNMA, and PMI guidelines, as well as internal and investor standards.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Education: Associates degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Approximately 1-4 years as a First Mortgage Processor or equivalent mortgage experience.
- NMLS Certification
