Mid-Level Philanthropy Officer

Charlotte Rescue Mission, a Christ-centered residential drug and alcohol recovery program, is seeking a dedicated Mid-Level Philanthropy Officer to join our team.

The Mid-Level Philanthropy Officer will have primary responsibility for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding monthly donors and mid-level donors. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, superb listening skills, customer service, and the ability to be a team player. There is a possibility of some evening and weekend work to attend functions and accommodate donor availability in scheduling appointments or calls.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Manage two separate portfolios of donors - monthly donors and mid-level donors. Designing and implementing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of these donors.  
• Focus on the goal of reengaging, cultivating, and stewarding these portfolios of donors which will result in lifting their giving goals, volunteering, and/or advocating.  
• Create monthly reports that reflect portfolio activity and performance. 
• Identify new prospective donors by working closely with the Donor Relations staff to identify patterns of giving. Research and rate new prospective donors.   
• Maintain a precise record of donor contacts through the Virtuous database.  
• Design and implement written strategies for top prospects and track progress throughout the year. Be willing to move donors to the Senior Philanthropy Officers portfolio as needed. 
• Assist with the establishment of fundraising priorities for the organization in conjunction with the Manager of Development Operations and the Chief Development Officer. 
• Coordinate and/or assist with major fundraising events as well as Third Party events as needed. 
• Provide staffing support for CRM fundraising, stewardship, and public awareness events.   
• Assist the donor relations team in processing mail during extremely heavy volume time periods. 
• Attend all gift officers’ meetings, development team meetings, and staff meetings. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a natural and genuine relationship-builder and results-oriented. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Knowledge:    

• Associate degree with a minimum of one-year related experience in fundraising or non-profit work. Bachelor’s degree preferred.   
• Experience in fundraising, development, and/or non-profit management is required.

• Proficient in Microsoft Windows work environment, Microsoft Office 
• Knowledge of Virtuous or similar database preferred 

Ability:

• Must be able to spend most time sitting, speaking, listening, and/or writing. 
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
