Summary
The middle grades teacher provides support to the instructional process by serving as the classroom leader with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. The person in this position develops lesson plans and delivers group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborates with other teachers, other professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues. This person also responds to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress.

Essential Duties
- Provides all students the best education available anywhere, preparing every child to lead a rich and productive life in the 21 st century.
- Creates a culture of effectiveness, by setting high standards and expectations for all students
- Teaches courses assigned by their principal/supervisor which are aligned to their licensure area; including but not limited to combined grade classes, specialized subjects such as math, science or literacy.
- Prepares course objectives and outlines for course of study following the North Carolina Standard Couse of Study, curriculum guidelines, or requirements of the state and the school.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of standards-based instruction and in accordance with goals established by the CMS Strategic plan.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects and communicates those objectives to students. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistants, teacher assistants, substitutes and volunteers.

- 2.5 GPA
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, content area or other related field
