Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years’ experience in security/law enforcement/military/first responder or related field
- Must meet all Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office requirements to attain and maintain “Guardian Status” as outlined in s.1006.12 and s. 30.15
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Must possess a State of Florida concealed weapons permit
- Must possess CCSO Guardian Certification within two years of hire (two certification attempts)

Performance Responsibilities:
- Uses necessary force to prevent or abate an active assailant incident.
- Immediately responds to and engages to stop the threat of an active assailant.
- Provides general supervision of the secondary campus by patrolling and monitoring (e.g.) parking lots, school gates, bus loops, hallways, bathrooms, and cafeterias and writes referrals for students as appropriate.
- Outlines expectations for and enforces student parking compliance, writing violations, booting illegally situated vehicles, and effecting the system of sticker-sale and revenue associated with parking.
- Assists law enforcement and school administration in the interdiction of contraband on campus.
- Identifies and intercepts unauthorized and potentially disruptive persons who come onto school grounds and properties.
- Maintains effective communication with school administration, school resource officer, and other applicable school employees, via hand-held radios.
- Proactively communicates safety and security information with law enforcement, building and district administration, and District Security and Emergency Management Coordinator.
- Regularly checks the operational capacities of the security cameras, ensuring their timely repair and regular function.
- Completes monthly video surveillance reports as needed.
- Monitors, actively, as appropriate, video surveillance system for potential safety concerns.
- Retrieves specific video surveillance footage as requested by administration.
- Assists with all safety and security drills as directed by school administration.
- Attends administrative team meetings as required.
- Assists with security functions at extracurricular events as needed.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of school board policies, code of conduct, and state law as it pertains to maintaining a safe and secure school environment.
- Participates in staff development activities, maintaining certification in critically important security trainings.
- Provides statistics and information, as requested by school officials, in the completion of reports for school/district use.
- Assists in responding to critical security incidents as requested by school administration and deans. Uses verbal de-escalation skills as the primary method to diffuse a situation and will attempt to enlist the assistance of other school staff members via school radio if necessary.
- Wears district issued security uniform at all times due to Guardian Responsibilities.
- Subject to random drug screenings F.S. Section 112.0455, F.S.
- Attend mandatory CCSO initial and annual CCSO Guardian Certification training which may occur off calendar at the discretion of CCSO.
- Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned by the principal.
