Qualifications: (Inclusive of federal guidelines as they pertain to Head Start positions)

• High school diploma and current Preschool CDA or equivalent state/national certification, or willingness to obtain within one (1) year
• Experience working with preschool children
• Ability to pass health screening, including tuberculosis test, per Head Start Performance Standards

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR and certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days
• Valid Florida driver’s license and insurance
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assists in developing and implementing appropriate instructional plans and individualized learning experiences for 3 – 5-year-olds as prescribed by program curricula.
• Establishes and maintains learning environments that meet all applicable state and federal health and safety standards.
• Assists in gathering, evaluating and utilizing ongoing child development assessment data.
• Engages families in program activities by maintaining ongoing and open communication, including participation in conferences and home visits.
• Meets all state and federal record-keeping and recording requirements.
• Assists in implementing prescribed, individualized support, behavior and/or learning plans.
• Practices positive child behavior and management techniques in the classroom.
• Participates in requisite professional development activities.
• Supports and supervises classroom volunteers and interns.
• Maintains relevant, ongoing and open communication with coworkers and supervisory staff.
• Works closely with partnering community agencies to provide quality, seamless services.
• Performs assigned duties related to student safety on campus.
• Performs other duties related to the job goal as directed.
