In this seasonal/temporary role, you’ll assist with mosquito control and entomological survey programs while also supporting routine maintenance and operational tasks. You’ll help collect and analyze mosquito samples using specialized laboratory equipment, conduct field surveys, and support surveillance efforts such as setting and retrieving CDC light traps. In the lab, you’ll assist with cleaning and operating equipment, documenting data, and performing basic calculations to support scientific analysis and reporting.
In addition, you may perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs depending on assignment, helping ensure equipment and facilities are functioning properly. You’ll also complete basic administrative tasks, including preparing reports and communicating with team members and the public.

Licenses and/or Certificates:
- Depending on area of assignment, must maintain a valid driver’s license.
You have a working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, along with modern office practices and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other job-related software. You communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and are able to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and manage your time efficiently.
You’re comfortable using standard office equipment and basic tools related to the position, and you can follow written and verbal instructions while working independently. You’re capable of performing manual labor in varying weather conditions and operating a motor vehicle as required.
You bring strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to approach new challenges with resourcefulness and tact. Above all, you provide excellent customer service and build positive working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, service providers, and the public.
