Job Overview
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals in various care settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate support and assistance to clients with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, and other health challenges. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and support in accordance with individualized care plans.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in the client's condition.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Engage clients in social activities and provide companionship to enhance their emotional well-being.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Assist with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Support clients with Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and other specialized needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective care strategies.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism while working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices for individuals with disabilities, autism, or developmental challenges.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine interest in helping others.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs.
- Understanding of care plans and experience in medication administration is a plus.
- A background in social work or nursing can be beneficial but is not mandatory.
