INTRODUCTION:
The Residential Director is responsible for the overall management and clinical support to the community residences, staffed apartments or support services assigned to ensure ongoing quality service and support for CRC Residential individuals.
            

ESSENTIAL PROGRAM DUTIES (other duties may be assigned):

  • Direct supervision, support & training of Program Directors managing homes in assigned cluster.
  • Conduct performance appraisals; implement motivation & disciplinary measures.
  • Participate in individual intake, discharge & support planning.
  • Alternate emergency on-call duties.
  • Coordinate clinical services: behavior management, nursing support, family services, & other clinical specialists.
  • Manage clinical record keeping system.
  • Manage performance-based objectives, program evaluation & goals setting in assigned cluster.
  • Oversee clinical component of Individual Service Plans for Community Living Program.
  • Participate in the facilitation and coordination of staff training curriculum for Community Living Program employees.
  • Interface with state agency personnel.
  • Participate in Health & Safety Committee. Ensure good housekeeping & timely reporting of maintenance needs.
  • Facilitate & train Program Directors and direct care staff in quality service provision in accordance with DDS standards set forth in “Quest”, the Quality Enhancement Survey.
  • Facilitate coordination of referrals to specialists (e.g. speech, O.T., P.T., psychology, therapist, etc.) as individually appropriate.
  • Demonstrate effective use of Positive Behavioral Supports.
  • Participate in referral, transition, and discharge process.
  • Advocate for residents’ human and legal rights.
  • Communicate cooperatively with other service providers to ensure quality of services is maintained through the sharing of pertinent information.
  • Communicate cooperatively with families, advocates, and guardians. Facilitate quarterly family meetings in each program in the assigned cluster. 
  • Maintain good public relations with the community.
  • Conduct quarterly quality assurance evaluations of each program and facilitate recommendations for service enhancement.
  • Meet with the Manager of Community Living on a weekly basis to inform him/her of residential issues. Recommend changes in residential policy as appropriate. Consult the Manager of Community Living regarding serious issues/problems.
  • Consult with the Manager of Community Living regarding all issues or problems that are serious in nature.
  • Audit house funds & residents’ funds that CRC manages unannounced at least bi-monthly.
  • Implement standards & regulations as required by the DDS & other agencies; agency representative in the Quality Enhancement Survey of assigned programs; implement any identified recommendations for improvement in a timely fashion.
  • Assist Program Directors in managing individual entitlements (i.e.: Medicare, Medicaid, social security benefits, etc.)
  • Participate in strategic planning.
  • Provide emergency direct care coverage to CRC group homes as needed.
  • Attend all staff meetings in your cluster of programs.

  • Attendance:  Adheres to program schedule and routines, which includes arriving to assigned location promptly and conforms to the agency’s attendance standards.  Attend all required meetings and trainings promptly.
  • Initiative:  Self-reliance in thinking, planning, and carrying out job responsibilities.  Demonstrates problem solving skills.
  • Management:  Supports and enforces agency policies and objectives; sets example through personal conduct and performance.  
  • Data collection:  Collects data, compiles information and prepares reports in a timely and accurate fashion.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be fluent in English and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to write advanced reports and correspondence.  
  • Ability to communication effectively with members served in their primary mode of communication, members under supervision, employees of the organization, families and members of the community.
  • Ability to effectively present information individually and in small groups.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.  
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands/fingers to handle objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms.  
  • The employee must frequently be able to generate the force to maneuver up to 100 pounds.  
  • Assistance in lifting members will be provided whenever possible.  
  • Employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from floor to waist and 10-15 pounds from waist to overhead.   

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Qualifications:
  • Possess an undergraduate degree in human services or related field.
  • A minimum of four years experience in human services of which at least two years included supervisory, clinical and administrative duties.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Successful completion of all state and agency mandated trainings.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification. (Within first month of employment)
  • DDS Medication Administration Certificate. (Within first six months of employment)
  • Safety Care/Legal Certificate (Within first six months of employment)
  • DPPC/Fire Safety/Human Rights/Universal Precautions Certificate (Upon hire)
  • CORE Curriculum (Within first three months of employment) 
  • Knowledge and use of principle of Normalization and Community Inclusion.
  • Knowledge and use of Positive Behavior Supports is preferred.
  • Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release information concerning allegations from Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Disability Services (DDS), and other agencies.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable members with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Driver’s License that is valid in Massachusetts and reliable personal transportation.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft applications.
