ABOUT THE POSITION
Under the supervision of the Project Director of the Community Health Worker (CHW) Academy, the Community Engaged Coordinator will report to the Program Manager and assist in achieving the Community Health Worker Academy’s objectives and goals. The ideal candidate is an experienced Community Health Worker (CHW) with an interest in workforce development and desire to contribute to the development of the next generation of CHWs.
This is a hybrid position. The schedule will be 17 hours a week on weekday evenings and Saturdays. The continuation of this one-year position is contingent upon grant funding renewal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Support training and mentoring of CHW Academy participants
- Leads outreach efforts to identify and recruit prospective CHWs with lived experience in marginalized communities; supports the application and registration process for new cohorts.
- Assists in maintaining relationships with community-based organizations and clinical partners to secure placement sites and employment pipelines.
- Supports review of training materials and activities for cultural appropriateness, accessibility, and alignment with the realities of CHW work.
- Assists with participant tracking, schedules recruitment sessions, and prepares materials for community
- Supports with scheduling meetings, outreach activities and health education, including, distributing materials, arranging logistics, preparing agenda and/or documentation.
- Supports both internal and external communication, including developing and presenting reports on the Academy
- Supports job placement, career development and retention services to CHW Academy trainees and alumni including case management sessions, workshop facilitation, and career status assessments for prospective CHWs
- Supports trainees during their field placements by providing mentorship and troubleshooting challenges in real-world community settings.
- Meets regularly with program staff to provide routine updates and seek consultation on participant progress
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, but significant experience as a CHW may be substituted for
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working as a Community Health Worker / Promotora in clinical settings is required.
- CHWs with experience doing outreach, engagement, patient education in clinics or hospitals encouraged to

SKILLS:
- Strong background in health education that is evidence-based, accessible, and
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, from community members to clinical
- Ability to design and implement career development and retention services and
- Strong understanding about health equity and health disparities
- Ability to manage recruitment schedules, track participant applications, and maintain organized
- Ability to use PC for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, Canva; willingness to learn educational technologies and learning management systems.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and build mutually beneficial partnerships
