What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works Meter Technician Intern position at Charles County Government?
This is a summer internship opportunity for July 1st - August 12th; open to rising high school juniors, seniors, recent college graduates or current college or graduate students. You must be a permanent resident of Charles County, or you will not be eligible.
Summer interns will work up to 28 hours per week, at $15.00 per hour.
This position will work within the Department of Public Works, Utilities Division. Chosen intern will assist the Meters group with meter change outs and turn offs during their busiest time of the year (summer).
Performs routine field and office clerical work in the installation, reading, and maintenance of water meters, visits homes, and places of business to install meters, locate and record meter readings, and maintain meters. Disconnects service when required. Reconnects service when instructed to do so.- Knowledge of computers
- Ability to use hand and power tools used
- Ability to learn Charles County roads and subdivisions
- Ability to learn plumbing and constructions practices
- Ability to learn to turn off and on water valves
This position is not telework eligible.
