Charles County Government is seeking a dynamic Environmental Treatment Facility Technician to interact with and physically assist operational and maintenance staff; perform routine process unit cleanup work as well as general, custodial, and grounds maintenance at County owned Wastewater Treatment Facilities, Lift Stations and Potable Well Sites; operates waste disposal equipment and light to medium vehicles. Technician will follow specific instructions from supervisors, superintendents and refers nonstandard situations to them as well.
- Assists Mattawoman Wastewater Treatment Plant (MWWTP) staff with the monitoring of county owned tanks and equipment, general labor, and other similar duties as directed and in accordance with all safety and County regulations.
- Performs routine cleanup work, as well as general, custodial, and grounds maintenance at MWWTP. Work may include, but is not limited to, picking up debris, painting, cleaning process tanks and buildings, shoveling snow, or cleaning vehicles.
- Operates waste disposal equipment (i.e. bobcat) and light to medium duty trucks.
- Use power-washing equipment to clean equipment located at the treatment plant.
- Completes daily report logbook to ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
(Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training, and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities, and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)
Completion of the Tenth Grade. One year of general labor experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
Employee is subject to call back in emergencies and to work outside during inclement weather in water and wastewater areas.
Employee will be trained in confined space procedures and may be involved in confined space entry.
Employee may be required to assist at other water and wastewater sites.
Employee will be required to work with chemicals that are used in water and wastewater industry.
Annual fit-testing protocol will be required, and employee may be required to wear a safety mask and safety breathing equipment, and other personal protective equipment.

Salary : $35,024 - $56,739
