Job Summary
The Mechanic II is an experienced technician capable of handling advanced diagnostics and repairs with minimal supervision. This role may lead small repair projects and mentor Junior and Mechanic I staff, serving as a technical resource. Must be able to perform the duties of a mobile mechanic in a variety of outdoor and jobsite environments, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, and uneven terrain while conducting field diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs. The travel area of scope is focused in Northern California, dependent on job site locations.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on vehicle systems, including transmission, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems, with minimal supervision.
- Lead small teams on larger repair projects, coordinating tasks and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Mentor Junior Mechanics and Mechanic I staff on repair techniques
- Manage customer concerns by explaining repairs and maintenance needs clearly and professionally.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on light and heavy equipment.
- Fabricate and repair parts using welding and cutting tools.
- Maintain records of work performed and parts used in the fleet management system.
- Assist with inventory and quality control of parts.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure tools are stored correctly.
- Perform in-shop metal fabrication, welding, and structural repairs, including:
- MIG, TIG, and stick welding
- Cutting and plasma work
- Fabrication of brackets, mounts, guards, and structural reinforcements
- Equipment modifications and custom repair solutions
- Proficiency in reading schematics and using advanced diagnostic tools, including scan tools and computer systems.
- In-depth knowledge of multiple mechanical systems, including transmission, electrical, HVAC, and diesel engines.
- Skill in welding, cutting, and performing advanced fabrication tasks.
- Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Pre-employment drug screening compliance.
- Valid Class A driver’s license. (preferred not required)
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including extended hours or in inclement weather.
- Commitment to staying current with emerging automotive technologies.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, including advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- 3- years of mobile mechanic repairs (preferred not required)
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Specialized knowledge in areas such as HVAC, electrical systems, or diesel engines.
- Advanced certifications, such as ASE Master Technician or certifications in specific systems.
- Experience mentoring or training team members in a professional setting.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a current DOT Medical Card.
- Ability to safely climb up and on trucks and loads.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to properly secure cargo using chains and load binding devices on equipment.
