Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our behavioral health team. In this role, you will leverage your lived experience and professional skills to provide peer-led support, guidance, and mentorship to individuals navigating mental health, addiction, and behavioral challenges. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering recovery, resilience, and empowerment within our community while utilizing evidence-based practices to promote positive outcomes.
Duties
- Offer peer-led support and mentorship to clients experiencing mental health or substance use issues, fostering hope and recovery.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies through crisis intervention and crisis management techniques.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to develop personalized recovery plans that align with clients' goals.
- Document client interactions accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Facilitate group activities and educational sessions focused on behavioral health, addiction counseling, and wellness strategies.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage behavioral change and reinforce positive decision-making.
- Provide advocacy and connect clients with community resources for social services, housing, employment, or additional mental health support.
- Maintain ongoing communication with team members to coordinate care and monitor client progress effectively.
Skills
- Strong understanding of behavioral health issues, mental health counseling, and addiction recovery principles.
- Proficiency in crisis intervention and crisis management to effectively support individuals during acute episodes.
- Excellent mentoring abilities with a compassionate approach to client engagement.
- Experience with social work practices and familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
- Skilled in motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate behavioral change and client empowerment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
