What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication Estimator position at Channel Personnel Services?
- Prepare detailed cost estimates using standard costs, previous project data, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
- Develop comprehensive technical proposals, including sales pricing, delivery timelines, freight, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with fabrication and machining operations, engineering, vendors, and account managers throughout the estimating and proposal process.
- Build and input Bills of Material (BOM) and Methods of Manufacture (MOM), including labor hour estimates, into the ERP system.
- Occasionally visit customer sites to obtain project details, measurements, or clarify scope of supply.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5 years of fabrication estimating experience in the Petrochemical industry — including ASME Code Vessels, Piping, Skids, and General Fabrication.
- Strong ability to interpret complex fabrication drawings and Petrochemical customer specifications.
- Familiarity with commercial and freight terms related to the industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and related software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Understanding of welding processes and NDE inspection methods.
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
