Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
Job Summary
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) plays a vital role in providing exceptional care to our residents by administering prescribed medications, assisting with daily living activities, and monitoring patients for medication side effects.
Key Responsibilities
Administer prescribed medications according to physician orders and facility policies, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of medication administration and patient records, adhering to facility protocols and HIPAA regulations.
Monitor patients for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, or changes in condition, reporting concerns to licensed nurses and providing compassionate care.
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating, as needed, promoting independence and dignity.
Measure and record vital signs when required, maintaining accurate records and reporting any changes or concerns to licensed nurses.
Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning of residents, ensuring safety and comfort.
Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked medication carts and supplies, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
Prioritize patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations, maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
Follow established protocols for medication administration, infection control, and safety, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
Respond promptly to resident needs and emergency situations, providing compassionate and timely care.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (if required by state).
Current Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification.
CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required by employer).
Knowledge of medication administration procedures and safety practices, with a focus on patient-centered care.
Ability to lift and assist residents safely, with a commitment to resident comfort and well-being.
