SUMMARY STATEMENT:Community Intervention Worker will increase the safety of the overall community by addressing violence in a comprehensive and cost-effective manner by directly reducing gang violence and providing holistic, integrated human services under the supervision of Program Manager and Executive Director. B. PRIMARY DUTIES:Crisis ResponseProactive PeacekeepingClient ServicesGun Buyback ProgramCommunity Action TeamsSummer Night Lights Performance Accountability Evaluation and Data Collection Maintenance of Records and Monitoring Training (i.e. Los Angeles Violence Interruption Training Academy (LAVITA)C. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Community Intervention Worker shall implement crisis response and proactive peacekeeping activities within the designated zone in coordination with community partners. For example, Community Intervention Workers will actively engage in developing truces among rival gangs in an effort to prevent and deter future criminal gang activity and violence. Participate in a variety of activities that bring the community together to respond to violence (e.g., peace marches, sporting events), and participate in neighborhood interfacing and community engagement by serving as representatives on the Community Action Teams. Proactive peacekeeping activities will include but are not limited to the following:Rumor Control.Street Mediation.Peace Agreement Creation and Maintenance.Mentoring.Identify and report gang graffiti in collaboration with City of LA 311.Impact Sessions (part of developing truces among rival gangs).Supportive services for Youth, Adults and Families impacted by gang violence.Community engagement.Implement services indicated in the two-prong approach.Adhere to flexible working hours, handle heavy workloads, and accept a 24-hour work response.Perform as a team member.Ensure all activities are supported and advance the overall goal of the organization.D. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:Must be a team player, follow company protocols and procedures, have a good understanding of community needs and community advocacy. Be able to communicate one on one, in a group setting and public speaking. Have knowledge and discipline on gang culture and history. Possess an understanding of mentoring and counseling procedures, the justice system (juvenile & adult). Prior paid employment in this field or volunteerism will be reviewed as a combination with life experience.E. EDUCATION:Any combination of education (high school diploma-college credits), life experience, volunteering with at-risk population or their families or any other qualifying certification in this field of work will be reviewed.
