Champaign Park District - Part-time 2 (not to exceed 19 hours per week) or Seasonal (not to exceed six months), Non-Exempt


About the Job:

If you like being in the middle of the action and keeping things running smoothly, this role is for you. Sports Site Managers are the on-site leaders at Park District sports complexes—making sure games run safely, staff are supported, facilities are ready, and patrons have a positive experience. You’re the go-to person when questions, issues, or curveballs pop up during games and events.


Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Oversee sports site operations during assigned shifts
  • Supervise Sports Site Workers and provide on-site leadership
  • Open and close facilities following established procedures
  • Conduct pre-game and site safety checks of fields, courts, equipment, and facilities
  • Monitor activities and enforce Park District rules, policies, and league guidelines
  • Address patron concerns, conflicts, and rule violations calmly and professionally
  • Complete incident, accident, and shift reports accurately and on the same day
  • Maintain records such as inventory logs and officials’ pay documentation
  • Communicate facility, supply, staffing, or maintenance needs to the Sports Coordinator
  • Perform general facility upkeep, including trash removal and restroom checks
  • Assist with minor maintenance tasks and report larger facility concerns
  • Respond appropriately to weather changes, large crowds, and high-pressure situations
  • Attend required trainings and staff meetings

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Strong communication skills with the public, staff, and supervisors
  • General knowledge of sports operations and scorekeeping
  • Ability to supervise staff and manage on-site issues effectively
  • Willingness and availability to work evenings, weekends, and outdoor events
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public.
  • Knowledge of sports and scorekeeping practices.
  • Experience leading and supervising staff (preferred).
  • Understanding of basic accounting and cash handling procedures.
  • Ability to calculate cash transactions and make change accurately.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

Salary : $17 - $18
