About the Job

Event Support Staff are the boots-on-the-ground team who help bring Champaign Park District events to life. From festivals and concerts to community programs, you’ll help set up, support operations during the event, and wrap things up afterward. It’s hands-on, fast-paced, and perfect for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and interacting with the community.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Assist with event setup, operations, and breakdown for Park District events
- Help with equipment placement, furniture setup, signage, decorations, and supplies
- Support coordination with staff, volunteers, and vendors during events
- Provide friendly, helpful customer service to attendees (directions, questions, check-ins)
- Monitor event areas for safety concerns and report issues promptly
- Keep event spaces clean, organized, and accessible
- Assist with post-event cleanup and restoration of facilities and grounds
- Follow all safety policies and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
- Work collaboratively to ensure a positive, well-organized event experience
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, vendors, and the public.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and function as part of a team.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Experience with events, recreation programs, or customer service is preferred but not required
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds
