What are the responsibilities and job description for the Board Assistant position at Champaign County Regional Planning Commission?
The Board Assistant works directly with the Director of Workforce Development to serve the East Central Illinois Workforce Development Board, Chief Elected Officials Board, and Local One Stop Partners. Board service includes creating agendas and packets, communicating with members, taking meeting minutes, coordinating meeting times and locations, preparing rooms (virtual or in-person) for meetings, helping Board chairs facilitate meetings by taking roll call and recording votes, becoming familiar with state policies and local bylaws, completing paperwork (such as certification, appointment, and other forms), and providing other administrative support.
- At least two years of previous experience in an office environment completing administrative tasks
- Knowledge of modern office procedures and office equipment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and the public
- Ability to enter data accurately, communicate professionally, and to present a good public relations image of the RPC to the community
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use email and MSWord, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and telework technology
- Ability to learn computer software programs related to duties
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order, the IL Open Meetings Act, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
Status: Part-Time
Schedule: 19 hours per week
Starting Hourly Wage: $20.00 - $24.00
Worksite Location: On-Site – Champaign, Illinois/Hybrid (Must be available to attend board meetings in person.)
