Childcare Center Prep Cook

Chambliss Center for Children is seeking a reliable, full-time prep cook to help prepare nutritious meals for children ages infant through 12 years old. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking and wants a consistent daytime schedule with no evenings or weekends while working in a positive environment that supports young children.

Pay: $12-$14 per hour depending on experience

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Location: 315 Gillespie Road, Chattanooga TN 37411

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food as directed, following set recipes and portion guidelines
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and storage area.
• Adheres to all safety and sanitation guidelines
• Assist the Kitchen Supervisor with the ordering of food and supplies
• Assist with other kitchen-related tasks as assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor
  
  

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to read and write in English
• Experience with food preparation/cooking in a commercial setting strongly preferred
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
• Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check required for working in a childcare environment
  
  

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking while preparing food and cleaning.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, such as food deliveries and supplies.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands for cutting, mixing, and cleaning.
• Works around hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and cleaning chemicals.
