Position Summary
As a Staff Accountant, you will be instrumental in helping clients create and follow standard operating procedures when it comes to their accounting needs, conducting financial analyses, and completing client engagements with precision and professionalism. Your day-to-day responsibilities will not only involve meticulous financial record-keeping and reporting but also advising on tax strategy. You'll work closely with a diverse portfolio of clients, providing personalized accounting solutions that cater to their unique business needs, while also collaborating with team members to foster a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for clients. Analyze financial data to identify trends, forecast future financial positions, and provide actionable insights to management.
- Tax Preparation & Planning: Prepare income tax returns for both individuals and businesses across various sectors. Provide strategic tax planning advice to minimize liabilities and ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
- Accounting Processes & Controls: Review daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors during audits and reviews. Ensure the company adheres to all applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and tax.
- Proficient in accounting software and systems, with a strong grasp of MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.
- Excellent knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for excellence.
Bonus Qualifications:
- CPA or EA certification is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
- Working knowledge of Thomson Reuters UltraTax and related programs
