Staff Accountant

Location: Columbus, OH

Salary: $65k - $80k

Our client is seeking a reliable and detail‑focused Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and contribute to an efficient monthly close. This role plays a key part in strengthening accounting processes, improving financial reporting, and ensuring accuracy across the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the accounts payable workflow, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and data accuracy.
• Support month‑end close through journal entries, account reconciliations, and review of balance sheet activity.
• Maintain and improve expense reporting, credit card processes, and related policy updates.
• Assist with job costing, reporting enhancements, and accounting system efficiencies.
• Monitor and reconcile accruals, prepaids, and other key accounts.
• Contribute to a timely 2‑day monthly close by ensuring clean, complete financial entries.
• Prepare and review vendor 1099s.
• Provide input for cash flow forecasting, especially around vendor payments.
• Support leadership with monthly financial reporting and ad hoc requests.
• Participate in ongoing process improvements, documentation updates, and system integrations.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast‑moving, deadline‑driven environment.
• Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
• Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
