What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of active development and construction projects
- Track project spending by maintaining detailed job cost records, commitments, and budget-to-actual reporting
- Produce monthly financial packages for individual projects, including variance explanations
- Prepare and submit construction loan draw documentation and monitor funding and capital contributions
- Work directly with project and construction teams to review invoices, pay applications, and cost coding
- Review subcontractor documentation including lien waivers and compliance items through internal systems
- Monitor change orders, contingency usage, and future cost exposure
- Complete month-end close activities for assigned projects, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
- Ensure financial reporting complies with GAAP and internal accounting standards
- Assist with forecasting, budget revisions, and ad hoc financial analysis
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and accounting system enhancements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
- 2 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate development, construction, or project-based accounting environments (multifamily or commercial real estate a plus)
- Strong working knowledge of construction job cost accounting and construction loan draw processes
- Experience using real estate or construction accounting platforms such as Entrata, Yardi, MRI, or similar systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines effectively
