Senior Payroll Specialist

Location: North Side of Indianapolis, IN

Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 annually (depending on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to manage and execute accurate, timely payroll processing for a growing organization on the north side of Indianapolis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a deadline-driven environment and serves as a subject matter expert on payroll compliance, systems, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for multi-state employees with a high degree of accuracy
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations
• Maintain and audit payroll records, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefits
• Serve as a point of escalation for complex payroll issues and employee inquiries
• Reconcile payroll reports, general ledger entries, and payroll tax filings
• Coordinate with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure accurate employee data
• Support payroll audits and year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
• Assist with payroll system upgrades, implementations, or integrations as needed
  
  

Qualifications

• 5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a mid-to-large-sized organization
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax reporting, and wage/hour regulations
• Experience processing multi-state payroll strongly preferred
• Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, Workday, Paychex, or similar)
