Payroll & HR Specialist

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 (Depending on Experience)

Position Summary

Our client, a growing construction company seeking an experienced Payroll & HR Specialist to oversee all payroll and human resources functions. This is a highly visible role that requires a confident, knowledgeable professional who can work independently, ensure compliance, and serve as a trusted resource for employees and management.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

• Process accurate weekly payroll for approximately 38 employees.
• Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, reimbursements, and employee payroll changes.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Coordinate payroll tax reporting through the company's payroll platform.
• Assist with payroll system transitions, including the implementation of Miter Payroll and Sage Intacct.
  
  

Human Resources

• Manage the full employee onboarding process, including new hire paperwork, I-9s, and compliance documentation.
• Maintain accurate employee personnel files and HR records.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions and HR-related issues.
• Coordinate employee benefits administration, acting as the liaison with the company's benefit providers, including UnitedHealthcare.
• Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
• Support performance-related documentation and employee relations as needed.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• HR or Payroll certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP, CPP, FPC, etc.) are a plus.
• 5–10 years of progressive HR and payroll experience.
• Construction industry experience strongly preferred.
• Thorough understanding of payroll processing, employment law, HR compliance, benefits administration, and employee relations.
• Experience with Sage Intacct and/or Foundation Software.
• Experience with Miter Payroll or similar cloud-based payroll systems.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a significant plus.
