Key Responsibilities (Director Of Tax)
- Lead and manage all tax functions, including income, property, sales/use, and other applicable taxes.
- Oversee preparation and review of federal and state tax returns for corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and individuals.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to support business operations and long-term objectives.
- Provide strategic tax planning and compliance support for estate and succession planning initiatives.
- Drive efficiency and continuous improvement using modern tax and accounting technology (workflow automation, data analytics, dashboards).
- Ensure compliance with all tax laws, regulations, and filing deadlines.
- Monitor and assess the impact of changes in tax regulations.
- Provide tax guidance on business transactions such as acquisitions, entity restructuring, and real estate development activities.
- Manage and coordinate external tax advisors, consultants, and auditors.
- Supervise, coach, and develop tax staff.
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and operations teams on tax-related matters.
- Support the CFO with tax provisions and financial reporting considerations.
- CPA required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s in Taxation preferred).
- 7 years of progressive tax experience, including at least 2 years at the manager level in public accounting or private industry.
- Strong experience with entity-level and individual tax compliance and tax planning.
- Expertise in both cash-basis and accrual-basis taxpayers.
- Strong understanding of FAS 109.
- Industry experience in agriculture or real estate is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
