Accounting Manager

Location: Remote (must reside in Greater Boston area)

CFS is partnering with a mission-driven, growth-oriented organization in the renewable energy and sustainability space to identify an experienced Accounting Manager. This role will play a critical part in overseeing core accounting operations, strengthening internal controls, and supporting the financial infrastructure of a complex, multi-faceted business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys operating at both a strategic and detailed level and who brings a strong blend of public accounting foundation and private industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
• Manage general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and journal entries with a high degree of technical accuracy
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and support external audits and tax-related filings
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership to support business initiatives and improve financial processes
• Strengthen and maintain internal controls and accounting policies in a developing, high-growth environment
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts as needed
• Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  
  

Qualifications

• CPA required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred)
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and private industry
• Strong technical accounting expertise and comfort navigating complex transactions
• Proven experience managing the close process in an operationally active business
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with evolving systems and processes
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
