Controller

CFO Recruit is partnering exclusively with a growing, PE backed business to appoint a Controller. There is flexibility on whether this role is remote or hybrid but candidates on the East coast would be preferable. This is an excellent progression opportunity to work with a forward thinking CFO and leadership team. The Controller will have oversight of the finance and accounting function which will involve a mix of accounting, FP&A and supporting the CFO with strategic initiatives. This role would suit a VP Accounting, Head of Accounting or Controller who has skills to leverage AI, tools and systems to drive efficiency and automate processes enabling greater insight into business performance. The Controller will have the following responsibilities:

• 
  Prepare work papers and supporting schedules for month-end close
• .Resolve discrepancies across systems and departments
• .Perform first-pass quality review on reports and schedules prior to CFO review
• .Maintain corporate books and records with audit-ready documentation
• .Support external audit and tax preparation as needed
• .Own and optimize AR/AP processes, including automation initiatives using various tools
• .Execute daily cash reconciliation and cash management activities
• .Process and record routine transactions in Sage Intacct with accuracy and timeliness
• .Maintain organized documentation supporting all financial entries
• .Maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets under CFO direction
• .Prepare variance analyses and ad-hoc financial analytics to support executive decision-making
• .Drive improvements in reporting timeliness and data accessibility
• .Develop dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for the leadership team
• .Assist in preparing materials for external distribution
• .Act as a business partner working collaboratively with Operations, Technology and Marketing
• .Support special projects from scoping through execution as directed
• .Proactively identify process improvement opportunities; propose solutions and implement upon approval
