CFD Research is seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to join our Biotechnology and Life Sciences team. In this role, you will play a critical part in advancing complex in vitro models to support the evaluation and development of medical countermeasures. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced in vitro systems—including organ-on-a-chip (OOC) platforms and organoids—across a range of tissue types.

CFD Research is seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to join our Biotechnology and Life Sciences team. In this role, you will play a critical part in advancing complex in vitro models to support the evaluation and development of medical countermeasures. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced in vitro systems—including organ-on-a-chip (OOC) platforms and organoids—across a range of tissue types.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize complex in vitro models across multiple organ systems, selecting appropriate platforms based on the intended context of use
- Execute and refine advanced in vitro assays, including immunocytochemistry (ICC), ELISA, cytotoxicity assays, and related techniques
- Generate rigorous, high-quality experimental datasets to support program objectives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with computational biologists, software engineers, and other subject matter experts
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and experimental results
- Contribute to scientific reports, proposals, and peer-reviewed publications
Required
- PhD with 3 years of relevant experience (or equivalent) in Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in developing fit-for-purpose, preclinical in vitro models
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and troubleshoot complex experimental challenges
- Excellent written and verbal scientific communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Experience developing multi-organ or integrated in vitro systems
- Background in drug development or translational research
- Experience in product development environments
- Demonstrated success in grant or proposal writing
