Dyno Operator / Transmission Quality Tester

Certified Transmission is looking for a Dyno Operator / Transmission Quality Tester to join our production team. This is a hands-on mechanical position responsible for testing remanufactured automotive transmissions and verifying that they perform properly before they reach our customers.

As a Dyno Operator / Transmission Quality Tester, you will set up transmissions, operate computerized and manual testing equipment, monitor transmission performance, identify potential problems, and document test results.

What You'll Do

• Set up and secure transmissions on a dynamometer (dyno) test stand using hoists and lifting equipment.
• Connect fluid lines, pressure hoses, wiring harnesses, sensors, and other testing equipment.
• Fill transmissions with the appropriate fluid and prepare them for testing.
• Run computerized and manual test programs through various gears, speeds, and operating conditions.
• Monitor computer readouts, gauges, fluid pressures, and test data.
• Listen for abnormal noises and monitor for vibrations, slippage, leaks, and other performance issues.
• Determine whether transmissions pass or fail testing based on established specifications.
• Accurately record test results, serial numbers, and performance information.
• Troubleshoot failed or questionable units and communicate issues to transmission builders and technical teams.
• Disconnect and drain transmissions after testing and prepare passing units for the next stage of production or shipping.
• Perform basic dyno equipment maintenance and report equipment problems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety, quality, and work procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Automotive, mechanical, manufacturing, or equipment experience preferred.
• Transmission rebuilding or automotive repair experience is a plus.
• Ability to safely and efficiently use common hand tools.
• Ability to read and understand equipment setup instructions and technical information.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document test results.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on shop position. Candidates must be able to:

• Stand and work on their feet for approximately 9 hours per day.
• Bend, reach, walk, and work around industrial equipment.
• Handle tools, hoses, and transmission components.
• Safely use hoists, cranes, and other lifting equipment after training.
• Work around transmission fluid and mechanical equipment.

Experience That Transfers Well

Experience as an Automotive Technician, Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Transmission Technician, Equipment Technician, Machine Operator, Quality Inspector, Manufacturing Technician, or Mechanical Assembler may transfer well to this position.
