Packaging Design EngineerLocation: Santa Clara, CAReports To: Packaging Design Engineering ManagerJob Type: Full timePay: $100k-$150k/yrAbout the RoleThis position supports a high-volume, fast-paced packaging design and engineering environment serving major consumer brands. The Packaging Design Engineer will act as the primary engineering point of contact for customers and internal teams, working closely with global manufacturing partners throughout the full packaging development cycle.The role requires strong technical packaging design capabilities, deep understanding of design for manufacturing, and experience creating production-ready specifications. Prior experience collaborating with overseas suppliers is highly preferred.ResponsibilitiesPartner directly with customers to design custom packaging that meets requirements for material, cost, functionality, quality, and consumer experience.Generate production-ready dielines and engineering specifications.Collaborate with engineering and production teams in the U.S. and overseas to support successful manufacturing, implementation, and continuous improvement.Provide technical guidance to customers to ensure designs meet manufacturing constraints, cost targets, and operational feasibility.Support DOEs (Design of Experiments), engineering validations, and quality resolution during production.Troubleshoot technical issues in partnership with overseas engineering and manufacturing teams.Present design concepts, updates, and findings in customer and internal meetings.Work cross-functionally and communicate project updates regularly to leadership and stakeholders.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.5–8 years of experience in packaging engineering, ideally in retail or consumer product packaging.Strong knowledge of key packaging materials—including rigid boxes, folding cartons, corrugated, and related substrates—and associated manufacturing processes and transit testing requirements.Experience working with overseas manufacturing teams (Asian suppliers strongly preferred).Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable to changing project demands.Strong communication and presentation skills.
Salary : $80,000 - $130,000
