Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hourPosition SummaryDowntown litigation boutique practice seeks a dedicated legal secretary to provide essential administrative and clerical support to attorneys at a firm focused on protecting constitutional property rights and students’ rights. The role involves preparing legal documents, managing schedules, handling client communication, and maintaining confidential records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a litigation environment. The position presents clear pathways for growth and advancement for the right candidate.Key Responsibilities· Format, and proofread legal documents, including: discovery, pleadings, motions, separate statements, appellate briefs, and petitions for review.· Manage attorneys’ calendars, including scheduling court dates, meetings, deadlines, and appointments.· File legal documents with courts and agencies (electronically).· Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files.· Handle telephone calls, emails, correspondence, and other communications from clients, opposing counsel, courts, and vendors, including process servers.· Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare expense reports.· Track deadlines, statutes of limitations, and due dates for filings.· Assist with billing, time entry, and invoice processing.· Gather large volume of case-related documentation and format for filing in separate statements and appellate appendices.· Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive legal information.Qualifications· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or legal secretary certification preferred.· 2 years of experience in a litigation law firm.· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.· Familiarity with Clio preferred· Extensive experience with court filing procedures (state, federal, and electronic filing systems).· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.· Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Key Competencies· Professionalism and discretion· Time management· Client service mindset· Problem-solving skills· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlinesWork Environment· Office-based role with potential hybrid flexibility.· May require occasional overtime based on case deadlines or trial schedules.
