The Lab/Field Technician will be working out of our Tacoma, WA laboratory.
Duties:

Certerra is expanding our operations with a brand-new laboratory in Tacoma, and we have an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Lab/Field Technician. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our growth, helping establish and support our new lab while gaining exposure to a wide range of technical assignments. Your responsibilities will include assisting with laboratory accreditation, carefully documenting test results, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality protocols. You’ll also have opportunities to collaborate directly with our project managers and engineers, and, depending on workload, step into the field to gain experience in special inspections — a chance to broaden your career path even further.
We’re looking for individuals who bring experience in laboratory and field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and other construction materials. Certifications in soil and concrete testing are a plus, and if you’re motivated to pursue additional certifications, we’ll help you get there.

Education/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, at a minimum. An associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, is a plus
- Preferred minimum one year of experience in geotechnical or construction materials laboratory testing
- Valid driver’s license
- Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Certerra’s driving policy
- Ability to lift materials and equipment up to 50lbs and perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for long periods of time
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred certifications include any of the following:
- ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician
- ACI Aggregate Testing Technician – Level I or II
- ACI Base Testing Technician
- ACI Masonry Testing Technician (Field and Laboratory)
- NICET Soils Level I or II
- ICC Soils
- Other certifications in: Field Testing, Soils / Aggregate Testing, Asphalt Concrete Testing, and Masonry Testing
