Pavement Services Lab Assistant

Responsibilities:

This person’s primary responsibility will be to assist evaluation of pavement materials including Hot Mix Asphalt, Aggregates and Soils, for compliance specifications and R & D of materials employed in the Asphalt Paving Industry. He/she will be responsible for assisting lab technicians in the preparation of samples for testing with general and skilled labor tasks. This person will be part of the Pavement Services Team working closely with existing staff. The facility is a state-of-the-art facility with sophisticated asphalt laboratory instruments. This job requires a high energy, level headed person that is willing to work hard and has the ability to keep it together in a deadline driven environment.

Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, a willingness to learn, and the ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions. Must take ownership and accountability of work. Effective communication with laboratory staff, field personnel, and project teams is also important.

• Assist with laboratory testing of soil, asphalt, concrete, and aggregate materials in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, TDOT, and project-specific requirements.
• Pick up and transport samples in accordance with applicable procedures and safety requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
• Properly document and report test results Assist with equipment maintenance and calibration
• This role requires the ability to lift 50 lbs or more on a regular basis. 

Qualifications and Working Conditions:

• Valid Driver's License
• HS Diploma or Trade School 
• Construction or Asphalt plant experience is a plus
• MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT 50lb on a REGULAR BASIS. 
• Standing for extended periods of time.
