This position requires the ability to safely operate snowplows, loaders, and other heavy equipment, while ensuring top-quality service for our clients and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate snowplow trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment to clear snow and ice.
- Apply de-icing materials (salt, sand, or other products) to roads, lots, and walkways.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, reporting any maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate logs of hours worked, materials used, and weather conditions.
- Follow all safety procedures and traffic laws while on duty.
- Communicate with supervisors, dispatches, and team members via radio or phone.
- Assist with shoveling/treating smaller areas where equipment cannot reach.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment or plow trucks preferred.
- Ability to follow directions, safety guidelines, and complete required paperwork.
- Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Flexibility to work long or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays during snow events.
- Prior experience with snow removal or related equipment operations.
- Comfort working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle/equipment checks.
- Ability to sit for long periods while operating equipment.
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, or bending.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Good vision, depth perception, and focus required for safe equipment operation.
- Outdoor environment with exposure to snow, ice, wind, and cold.
- Regular exposure to mechanical equipment, vibration, and loud noise.
- Conditions vary by site; extended shifts may be required during storms.
