Title: IT Director – Clinical Informatics & Operations

Location: Seymour, IN

Employment Type: Contract to Hire

The IT Director – Clinical Informatics & Operations is a key organizational leader responsible for managing all IT operational functions while providing strategic leadership for optimizing MEDITECH Expanse and advancing digital transformation initiatives.

This role acts as the strategic bridge between clinical practice, operational priorities, and technical capabilities. The Director leads workflow design, ensures system stability, enhances provider and nursing usability, and introduces emerging technologies such as AI-assisted documentation, automation, and advanced decision support. Through this work, the Director directly contributes to improving patient experience, clinical quality, and operational efficiency.

MEDITECH Expanse Optimization

  • Lead optimization strategy for MEDITECH Expanse post–go-live.
  • Standardize and enhance workflows that directly impact patient care and experience, including documentation, order management, clinical communication, and rounding workflows.
  • Oversee release readiness, build validation, testing, training, and adoption plans.
  • Identify and resolve pain points that affect provider efficiency or patient outcomes.

Digital Transformation & Innovation

  • Implement digital tools that enhance both patient and provider experiences.
  • Introduce and optimize AI-enabled solutions such as ambient documentation, workflow automation, and intelligent assistants.
  • Evaluate technologies that streamline communication, reduce wait times, enhance transparency, and improve care coordination.
  • Drive initiatives that strengthen data-driven decisions using analytics, automation, and structured documentation.

Provider & Clinical Engagement

  • Work directly with providers, APPs, nursing, and clinical departments to identify workflow barriers and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead provider efficiency reviews and specialty-specific optimization cycles.
  • Improve documentation processes to reduce burden and increase time available for patient interaction.
  • Advocate for best practices that elevate care experience.

Governance & Change Management

  • Lead EHR governance including the Clinical Steering Committee, Nurse Informatics Council and related optimization teams.
  • Maintain transparent prioritization for enhancements, regulatory changes, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Drive structured change management to ensure successful adoption and minimal disruption to patient care.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and support teams across IT operations, clinical informatics, application support, and optimization.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, innovation, and service excellence.
  • Provide mentorship, professional development, and succession planning.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION

  • Minimum: Bachelor degree in computer science, information technology, nursing, business or related healthcare field
  • Preferred: Advanced degree preferred in computer science, information technology, nursing, business or related healthcare field

Experience

  • Five years work experience during which leadership and management skills have been demonstrated within a hospital based healthcare information technology environment
  • Experience leading Meditech optimization projects with Expanse experience preferred
  • Experience leading process improvement projects and implementation of new technologies
  • Experience leading an information technology department including operations, personnel, budgeting, and projects
  • Proven leader with experience bringing projects to completion on time and on budget
