Design/Modeler – John Deere This is an engaging 1 year contract opportunity paying up to $35/hr, including 1 week of PTO. Operating 100% onsite in Moline, IL on a standard 1st shift schedule, this role places you at the heart of John Deere’s product engineering workflow. You will collaborate directly with cross-functional design engineers to create robust 3D Creo models, produce detailed manufacturing drawings, execute tolerance stack-up calculations, and manage model revisions within Windchill/PDM systems.

Position Details & Compensation

  • Pay Rate: Up to $35/hr (W2).
  • Location: 100% Onsite at John Deere (Moline, IL). Local candidates only.
  • Duration: 1 Year contract assignment (With standard corporate extension pathways).
  • Shift & Hours: 1st Shift, Monday – Friday.
  • Benefits: 1 Week PTO, Health, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, and Referral Bonuses.
  • Safety Equipment: Metatarsal safety boots are required on Day 1.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Strictly not available now or in the near future for this position.

Core Responsibilities

  • 3D Modeling & Drafting: Utilize PTC Creo to generate, modify, and finalize 3D solid models, assemblies, and 2D production drawings according to John Deere design standards.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers to interpret engineering intent, translate concepts into CAD geometry, and annotate models accurately.
  • Tolerance & Geometry Analysis: Calculate basic tolerance stack-ups to ensure form, fit, and function across complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Data Management (PDM): Store, check in/out, and manage CAD files, revisions, and assembly structures within Windchill/PDM system environments.
  • Documentation & Standards: Apply sound CAD modeling best practices, perform model annotations, and ensure accuracy in bill of materials (BOM) and drafting specs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • CAD Software Mastery: Proven working knowledge and practical experience in PTC Creo (3D modeling, assembly creation, and 2D drafting).
  • Data Management Systems: Demonstrated familiarity and working experience with PDM / Windchill systems for engineering file management.
  • Engineering Math & Tolerancing: Ability to calculate basic tolerance stack-ups independently.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Communication & Location: Strong collaborative and communication skills to work alongside engineering teams. Must be a local candidate.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Solid understanding and application of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
  • Proven ability to perform Model-Based Definition (MBD) or 3D annotations directly within Creo models.
  • Strict attention to detail and a track record of adhering to rigorous CAD modeling best practices and corporate drafting standards.
