What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer - Modular Process Systems position at CEO Inc.?
Mechanical Engineer – Process Systems | Skid Design | Pharmaceutical / Food Manufacturing
Local Candidates to Wisconsin Only
Design and deliver skid-mounted industrial process systems used in pharmaceutical, biotech, food, beverage, and chemical manufacturing environments.
We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer with process systems experience who understands fluid handling, sanitary design, modular skids, and regulated production environments.
This is a hands-on, project-driven engineering role where you will own mechanical design from concept through fabrication, FAT, installation, and commissioning.
What You Must Have (Core Requirements)
- Experience designing industrial process systems or skid-mounted equipment
- Background in pharmaceutical, biotech, food, beverage, or chemical processing
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Experience creating or reviewing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Strong understanding of fluid handling, thermodynamics, and mechanical system design
- Experience supporting fabrication, BOM development, and design reviews
If you haven’t worked in regulated or process-driven manufacturing environments, this likely won’t be the right fit.
Industry & System Focus
You’ll support the design and build of:
- Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems
- Bioreactors
- Modular skid systems
- Transfer panels
- Custom fabricated process equipment
- Integrated process modules for production lines
These systems operate in regulated manufacturing facilities where compliance, material compatibility, efficiency, and buildability are critical.
What You’ll Do
- Develop mechanical layouts, system configurations, and equipment specifications
- Create and review PFDs and engineering documentation
- Oversee 3D CAD modeling and fabrication drawing development
- Review vendor submittals and equipment specifications
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Support budgeting, fabrication, installation, and commissioning
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Troubleshoot technical challenges during project execution
- Manage multiple active engineering builds simultaneously
This is not a desk-only design role — you’ll see your systems fabricated and commissioned.
Background That Aligns
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
- OR
- Associate’s degree 3 years of process system design experience
- Experience designing food, pharma, biotech, or chemical process equipment strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications
- Comfortable in project-based engineering environments
Technical Environment
- SolidWorks
- 3D CAD modeling
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Skid design & modular systems
- Fluid handling systems
- Engineering documentation & drawing review
- Microsoft Office tools
Why Engineers Like This Role
- Full lifecycle ownership (concept → fabrication → FAT → commissioning)
- Custom, non-repetitive system builds
- Cross-functional collaboration (fabrication, controls, PMs, customers)
- Minimal travel
- PTO holidays
- Full benefits
- 401(k) with match
- Growth potential within a project engineering environment
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy seeing their designs come to life, who thrive in hands-on, project-driven environments, and who are motivated by solving technical challenges in process-focused industries.
