Position Overview
A well-established, multi-site manufacturing company is seeking a Process Control Engineer to support and enhance automation systems within a fast-paced production environment. This role will focus on control system optimization, HMI development, and execution of control strategies that drive efficiency, reliability, and overall plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine automation strategies to improve process stability, product quality, and operational efficiency
- Create and maintain technical documentation such as control narratives, loop documentation, and system backups
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues in collaboration with maintenance and operations teams
- Work cross-functionally to support capital projects, system upgrades, and new equipment integration
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize automation and workflows
Leadership Scope
- Provide technical input and support for projects; level of leadership responsibility will align with experience
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 5 years of experience in automation, controls, or process engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Experience with distributed or plant-wide control systems (DCS) and PLC-based automation platforms
- Familiarity with multiple automation platforms and vendors is preferred
- Background supporting projects from concept through commissioning is highly desirable
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols and system integration concepts
- Exposure to data systems, historians, or manufacturing IT/OT environments is a plus
- Strong foundation in instrumentation and control principles
- Ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive, continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment and varying conditions
- Regular movement throughout the facility; occasional lifting may be required
- Exposure to typical plant conditions, including noise and moving equipment
