JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an active, detail-oriented Material Handler I to join our shipping team. This role is heavily focused on active order fulfillment and requires an individual who enjoys a physically engaging workday spent walking the aisles and accurately picking outbound orders. You will safely operate stand-on order pickers, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to pull inventory from various racking heights. When order picking demand slows, you will shift focus to replenishing shelves with finished packaged goods or assisting our packaging department. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-movement environment, possesses great spatial awareness for operating machinery, and is motivated by meeting daily team production goals.
Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, cranes, and other heavy equipment while adhering to OSHA safety protocols.
- Pick and prepare orders accurately using RF scanners and manual handling techniques for shipment or storage.
- Organize and store inventory systematically to facilitate easy access and inventory control.
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks by verifying shipments against documentation, inspecting goods for damage, and recording transactions.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, clamp trucks, load & unload machines, and other material handling equipment following safety guidelines.
- Conduct manual handling of materials including lifting, stacking, and moving heavy items with proper technique to prevent injury.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through regular stock counts and updates in warehouse management systems.
- Support warehouse supervisors by ensuring compliance with safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company policies at all times.
Experience
- Previous experience in warehouse distribution or logistics environments is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with order picking, shipping & receiving processes, and inventory management systems.
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, and other material handling machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following manual handling procedures.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations including the use of RF scanners for order picking and inventory tracking.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols aligned with OSHA standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Warehouse supervisor experience or leadership roles are a plus but not required; a willingness to learn is essential.
