What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employee Benefits Analyst position at Centre County, Pennsylvania?
- Assists all employees with questions regarding employee benefits.
- Handles “behind the scenes” implementation of open enrollment. Collects and sends all employees changes/updates to various insurance carriers electronically. Identifies and corrects employee errors made during open enrollment. Communicates with carriers regarding changes/updates after open enrollment closing.
- Calculates, processes, and prepares monthly insurance premiums on retiree health insurance, voluntary benefits, and life insurance programs.
- Interacts with all insurance companies regarding the administration of benefits.
- Meets with employees regarding FMLA process and paperwork. Processes, maintains, and tracks all requests for leave of absence. Maintains leaves in FMLA Manager. Disseminates approved leave of absence applications to employee/department head including approval amounts/durations of leave.
- Maintains accurate records on all medical claims and other benefit record information.
- Types, files, and copies letters, forms, documents as required for the administration of benefits.
- Participates in all Employee Benefits Trust meetings and takes minutes for the meetings.
- Monitors age factor regarding life insurance benefits.
- Processes all COBRA requests for employees separating from the County. Processes all COBRA payments received.
- Monitors to ensure the County is compliant with all FMLA and COBRA regulations.
- Processes short-term disability claims with multiple carriers, files claim reports, faxes updated information on employees, and answers STD related questions.
- Serves as a backup for other Human Resources staff as necessary.
- Takes photo ID’s and processes identification cards for all County employees and contracted service providers as necessary.
- Acts as back up for phones and walk-ins, answer basic human resources related questions.
- Assists with the preparation of year-end information for new payroll year.
- Processes purchase orders and check requests as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required Education: Associates or bachelor’s degree in human resources or benefit administration. Additional business, clerical, and computer training preferred. Required Experience: One to two (1-2) years working experience in the field of human resources, preferably with benefits and/or County government background. Other Requirements: Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and a willingness to travel as needed.
