What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planner - Community Planning Specialist position at Centre County Government?
- Researches, analyzes, and compiles socioeconomic and demographic data for the County Planning and Community Development Office, the municipalities, and the general public.
- Assists with the preparation and updates to the County's comprehensive plan, regional comprehensive plans, and municipal comprehensive plans as requested.
- Researches and prepares grant applications for municipal and regional planning partners as requested.
- Assists with the preparation of agendas, meeting announcements, graphic materials, legal ads, and other materials concerning planning issues related to land use, transportation, zoning, agriculture, housing, and other emerging topics.
- Makes presentations and assists local officials and the general public on a wide variety of planning issues.
- Compiles and analyzes responses for community evaluation of planning needs with regards to consistency between the comprehensive plan, land regulations, and proposed developments.
- May be assigned to research and develop model ordinance language for new land use categories inherent to municipal planning regulations.
- Develops, updates, and maintains the underutilized site inventory database.
- Uses desktop Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the County's WebIA (web-based records access system) to acquire information, analyze spatial data and prepare maps.
- Attends meetings of public and citizen organizations, frequently outside of normal working hours.
- Monitors legislative and regulatory announcements.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
