Responsibilities
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including dishwashers, sinks, and food prep tools, following all safety protocols and PPE guidelines
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and food service areas efficiently to meet sanitation standards such as JCAHO and food safety regulations
- Assist with meal preparation by organizing ingredients, portioning foods, and supporting basic food handling tasks under supervision
- Buss tables and support the serving process to ensure timely delivery of meals to residents while adhering to dietary restrictions and requirements
- Follow proper manual handling techniques for heavy lifting and safe lifting practices when moving supplies or equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen environment through sanitation procedures, including sweeping, mopping, waste disposal, and surface cleaning
- Support dietary department operations by assisting with inventory management and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
Skills
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food production, meal preparation, and sanitation practices relevant to healthcare environments
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to work with geriatric patients by understanding their specific dietary needs and restrictions
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely while adhering to workplace safety protocols
- Basic math skills for portioning foods and managing inventory accurately
- Excellent customer service attitude when interacting with residents and staff
- Experience in dietary aide roles or food handling certifications such as CPR or food safety training is a plus
