High School Attendance Secretary
Reports to: Principal Location: Centralia High School
Bargaining Unit: Full-Time Teamsters FLSA Status: Exempt
Classification: Secretary IV
Job Summary:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide secretarial and clerical support to administrators, communicate information to school staff, other districts and community members; and maintain accurate attendance records and prepare reports for various public agencies and school personnel.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Several years of office experience, including computer record maintenance and public relations
- Maintain timely and professional communication with students, families, staff, and building administration
- Ability to be self-directed while working with a high degree of collaboration.
- Creates organizational systems able to flexibly respond to changing student needs
- Function in a calm, efficient, courteous manner under stress and to exercise careful judgment, confidentiality, and tact in the performance of duties
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with students, co-workers and administration
- Maintain a professional appearance, strict confidentiality, and able to work effectively under pressure
- Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Act in an ethical and confidential manner in all aspects of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or higher
- Ability to speak Spanish
- Successful experience working with adolescents
- Skyward experience
Essential Functions for this Position:
- Written communications are clear, accurate, concise, and professional with proper grammar.
- Has knowledge in general secretarial procedures, accurate filing systems, the BECCA Bill, and Skyward
- Prepares accurate attendance records for public agencies and attend Truancy Court
- Prepares referrals and reports for administration, counselors, staff, and parents for the purpose of intervening in cases of chronic absenteeism, tardiness, or truancy.
- Supervises and trains student assistants for the purpose of maintaining an efficient and professional office environment.
- Proficient skills in technology use and ability to learn new programs quickly
- Actively support and reinforce school/district policies and procedures
- Actively support the District’s mission, vision, and goals
- Other duties as assigned
Salary: $25.43 - $29.48 hourly, depending on experience
Work schedule: Eight (8) hours per day (M-F 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) – 201 days per year (including holidays)
