Summary Of Position
The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) for the Respiratory Care Technology program will operate under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Technology Program Director and Department of Health Sciences Chair in cooperation with other stakeholders. The DCE for Respiratory Therapy coordinates, prepares, presents, and evaluates classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction and related activities. Maintain compliance with the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care (CoARC) standards and implement these standards within the Respiratory Care Program. The program must meet or exceed the requirements of CoARC to maintain its current and re-accreditation statuses. Provide general supervision and direction to the Respiratory Care faculty. Builds and maintains community and agency partnerships by developing good working relationships and involvement with Health Care Institutions through an Advisory committee.

Minimum Required Education
- Baccalaureate degree awarded by an institution that a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency accredits
- Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed with the Texas Medical Board
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs
- Excellent communication and leadership skills are based on developing and sustaining a consensus-driven, collaborative, and team-oriented culture.

- Knowledge of educational principles and instructional methods of teaching.
- A clear vision for the department's future that includes achieving recognition of its programs as among the best.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of state and national regulatory agency requirements.
- Teaching experience to deliver content, skills instruction, and remediation.
- Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles.
- Guide and evaluate students in the classroom, lab, and clinical area.
- Ability to communicate with students, agency personnel, and college personnel.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethics standards appropriate to the professional position.
- Ability to use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues to enhance learning as appropriate.
- Flexible, dependable-able to work with students enrolled in the Respiratory Care Program.
- Demonstrate competence in all areas of Respiratory care.
- Function as the lead member of the Respiratory Care team.
