At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are dedicated to providing a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area by protecting the Columbia River and remediating the Central Plateau. To achieve our mission, we seek exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help us reduce risks on the Hanford Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. Our Environmental Safety & Health organization is looking for interns (multiple openings, m/o) in the following areas:

  • Environmental Science
  • Geology
  • Industrial Hygiene
  • Radiological Protection
  • Safeguards and Security
  • Emergency Preparedness
  • Safety

Required Qualifications

  • A U.S. citizen.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program that relates to CPCCo, with emphasis in specific disciplines that support the cleanup mission and aligns with the critical skills and job assignment requirements.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher during their college enrollment.
  • An active full-time student during the two semesters/quarters immediately preceding the assignment.
  • Able to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the 10-12 week internship experience during the summer break.

Desired Qualifications

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly rate of $21.00 plus an additional $4.93 health & welfare adder in accordance with the Service Contract Act.

A few perks you can anticipate, depending on the nature of your employment with CPCCo, include the following:

  • A casual-dress work environment, where jeans are a regular thing.
  • A standard 4-10's work schedule Mondays to Thursdays from 6:00AM – 4:30PM.

Additional Information

  • Work Locations and Commute: Work locations vary, with commutes ranging from 20 to over 45 minutes from 2620 Fermi, Richland, WA.
  • Hiring Timeline: Interviews will take place after the postings closes. Non-local applicants will be interviewed via TEAMS video, and local applicants have the option of in-person interviews.
  • Casual-Dress Work Environment: employees can dress casually, with jeans being commonly worn.
  • Substantial Footwear most positions and site tours may require substantial footwear. This includes shoes made of sturdy construction. Such as leather or equally firm material, that fully enclose the foot. They should have a semi-rigid, non-slip sole with a well-defined traction pattern. Athletic shoes are not considered substantial.
  • Housing and Transportation: While housing and transportation are necessary, they are not provided. However, recommendations for lodging and transportation can be offered upon request.
