Education and Experience:
- Must have high school diploma or GED, including and supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and typing
- Proficient in Excel is preferred, but not required
- Must have knowledge of or willing to learn facility credentialing
- Must have knowledge of medical billing
- Must have valid TX driver's license and be insurable
Job Purpose:
- Will serve as the Center's Billing Specialist
- Responsible for the development, preparation, billing and collection of insurance (third-party payments of individuals served).
- Prepares and submits reports and requests for payment from third-party payers
- Responsible for the credentialing of all providers with MCO's, Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance
- Responsible for bank deposits and downloads the EOP's
- Responsible for the posting of incoming payments and adjustments
Job Function:
- File claims in a timely manner and helps to resolve billing issues
- Credentials all providers with MCO's, Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance
- Monitors billing against collection activities
- Ensure all invoicing is complete and mailed no later than the 10th day of the month
- Review client accounts for any discrepancies or balances owed to the Center
- Reviews and prepares reports
- Responsible for creating and distributing the journals in a timely manner to the appropriate person for posting of payments
