- Supervision, evaluation of all aspects of transportation program, with emphasis on safety, bus driver performance, preventive maintenance and efficient purchasing; design, implementation and continuous update of effective bus schedule; recruiting, training and assigning all drivers for bus routes; maintenance of constant bus driver performance evaluations, supervising all drivers, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and Transportation Handbook; maintenance of sufficient trained substitute drivers to fill all requirements
- Promote good public relations within the community
- Keep Superintendent informed as to general transportation efficiency and economy
- Hold meetings with bus drivers to address issues or concerns
- Analyze transportation costs periodically
- Process of all requirements in support of all athletics and school-related activities or other requirements of District or Superintendent
- Establishment of systematic preventive maintenance program and supervision of all vehicle maintenance activities; up-to-date inventory of supplies and equipment; annual budget for transportation, accurate records in accounting format, filing system in compliance with job requirements
- Coordination with all district agencies to insure smooth transportation
- Student accident prevention program, emphasizing safety; report of all accidents to proper authorities; maintenance of accurate accident records in standard format
- Preparation and submission of all reports required by State Department
- Required statistical data in support of pupil transportation; positive pupil discipline measures, insuring that drivers report infractions to building principals by completing proper district forms
- Assist to building principals on all transportation needs for schools, including establishing mile limit for pupil transportation
- Management and operation of repair shop; repairs accomplished in accord with state and federal regulations governing school buses
- Ensuring that purchase of equipment, vehicles, parts, supplies, tools, materials, fuel, tires, petroleum products, etc., are in accord with current laws and procedures and are most economical and efficient
- Oversees and assesses the accuracy of the automated routing and scheduling system
- Supervises the design and implementation of all regular and special education bus routes and runs and works with building staff and contractor to coordinate routing of vehicles (for triple run schedules) to maximize fleet usage
- Help assume any other assignments related to the school system needs as assigned by the Superintendent
- Anything else deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Education
