SYSTEM NAVIGATOR for McKinney Vento (School Social Worker) Part-Time - 49%
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Goal: The part-time -49% System Navigator (School Social Worker) will help families acquire community-based support services and provide other identified needs to support students experiencing homelessness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelors/Master’s degree in social work from an accredited university required. SSW Georgia certificaton preferred.
· Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs casework intervention services as appropriate for individual students and their parents/guardians who are experiencing homelessness (home visits, community-based support, conferences with school personnel and referrals to local and/or state agencies)
· Will serve as mentors to students experiencing homelessness to support their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
· Collaborates with school administration and school personnel to ensure identified students receive additional tutoring services (after school, Saturday School) as needed
· Collaborates with school counselors to identify students who may need support from a school-based mental health therapist
· Will support full-time SSW’s with student attendance concerns and will work closely with families to help resolve student attendance issues
· Maintains sufficient documentation of casework for use by school staff members or outside agencies when appropriate
· Completes all other duties as assigned and required in order to perform the above services
Physical Requirements: Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Light Work: Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.
Terms of Employment: August 2025 - May 2026- Federal funded position
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Executive Director for Student Services.
